Seneca Pest Control

Termites -2It’s safe to say that no pest is a good pest, but there are some pests that are worse than others. Ants, termites, and bed bugs are destructive, hard-to-remove pests that certainly qualify.

Ant Control

There are more than 12,000 species of ants in the world. While you don’t need to dedicate your life to studying all of them (that’s our job), it is important to identify those that you find in your home.

Carpenter ants are among the largest species to invade homes. They build nests in both rotting and solid wood, impacting the infrastructure of your greatest investment. They range in size from roughly a quarter inch to a full inch. They generally eat dead insects but will forage for crumbs left around the kitchen.

Another common type of ant is the little black ant. Their nests may be found in decaying wood outside or under your home, but they will also nest inside cracks found in walls. These pests will eat basically anything found in your home, from other insects to fruits to grease and oil.

Whichever type of ant you’re concerned about, sealing cracks found on your walls, doors and vents is a great way to prevent their entry.

Termite Control

In many areas of the United States, termites are a frequent concern. Often confused with flying ants, termites can be recognized by their equal-length wings and straight abdomens, which look very different from the cinched-in waists of ants.

Termites eat cellulose, which can be found in wood all around your house. They can live in your home—and consume it—leaving hard-to-see signs such as shed wings and piles of tiny, sand-like excrement. Termite infestation can be prevented when you ensure there are no water leaks in your home and that rainwater is diverted away from your foundation. Seal all cracks in your home and make sure wood piles are kept far from your house.

Bed Bug Control

Bed bugs are brown, oval, flat-bodied insects that invade your home by hitching a ride on your clothes, luggage and used upholstered furniture. One of the best ways to avoid getting bed bugs is to steer clear of used furniture or hotels with reviews mentioning bed bug presence.

Bed bugs spread quickly and are extremely difficult to get rid of. Many people don’t even realize they have a full-on infestation until the find bites on their skin and blood stains on their sheets after sleeping.

Don’t let ants, termites, and bed bugs crowd you out of your home and cause expensive structural damage that endangers your family. Contact Titan Termite & Pest Control today.
